From the inside looking out

If you go here, you can see from the outside looking in. I assume the little flag was put there because the person or persons could not get into the cemetery to put it where they wanted it. They obvioulsy had not found the CORRECT entrance...the one Clancy was guarding.

How to get into a cemetery

I just want you to be clear on how much fun this was, breaking the law. This is the path I had to take to get to the rusted, broken fence where I could hop over to get pictures of the inside of the cemetery.

A very patient dog......

IN anticipation of October Theme Day....I have broken the law.....I know, I know....I don't seem the type but for a picture....well....I'll have to admit I don't feel too bad about this!...I did a series on the cemetery in my subdivision....I have lived here 21 years and have never felt the need to climb the fence (notice how rusty and ragged it is AND it is in someones BACKYARD and you will understand why I haven't felt the need!) to get into this...however...with theme day approaching I took the bull by the horns and Off --ok--OVER I went....this is from the inside of the cemetery as I was leaving....Clancy could not jump it so I left him attached to a very large post and here he is waiting patiently....while I snapped away.....and the mosquitoes ate away!

Here a shoe, there a shoe, every where a shoe shoe

I had no idea what I was in for when I went to look for a pair of shoes. This is a Very popular shoe store in our area. Maybe they are nationwide....not sure...but, wow, you can certainly spend a LOT of time looking for just the right shoe!

Drive thru not a drive by

This was one of those days that I needed a drink (ice tea) before I went to wherever I was headed so I went thru a drive thru to get one.....Imagine my surprise that the Police needed something from here as well!!

An Insect on my car

Posted by Picasa

When I went to go to work one day last week, this charming insect was on my door...my husband wanted to know why I didn't remove it before I drove off.....puhleeessee....as IF I would touch ANY insect voluntarily! I wasn't even sure what this was....a praying mantis I thought except it's brown and I didn't think they could be brown......

Non foggy Inverness morning

This is the same road I take to work but with the sun shining. I don't always go this way but I am forced to now that there is construction on my regular route. This is in a residential area so the speed limit is 25 MPH and it is sometimes hard to go that slow on such a straight road!

A well lit church

This is the Barrington United Methodist Church...it used to be very near my town but 10 years ago, it caught on fire. It didn't burn all the way to the ground but had much damage...Much consternation about what to do as it was a 100 year old building...considered a historical landmark...Eventually, since the building was sooooo old and the parishioners wanted to expand, they moved it out past me...just on the edge of Inverness. And I now drive by it once a week on my way to dog Obedience classes.

A Portuguese Recipe

These are recipes from my good friend Quint from Portugal....see, I can follow directions! It would have only been better if I could share with all of you....but trust me when I tell you that it will be a cold day in July before I "gut" any fish to go with this....I don't care how good it would be!

My daughter is taking a class that requires her to read this book....it got sent to the house instead of to her at college so I opened it to repack and mail it....It seemed like a perfect picture for ABC Wednesday...I am guessing this book is not a happy book, though.

Bridge struts or supports or something?

This looks so strange when you are driving by ...This is the bridge that they are re-doing and I think these are something important....I really don't know what they are called. But it is like they are sticking up and reaching toward the heavens...just very odd looking.....

Free Fertilizer anyone

While I was stopped in traffic, I took this picture. This is only 2 minutes away from where we live. This is part of the Palatine Park District..the town where our closest train station is located...and they have a horse barn..which is this white building. Every time I see this sign I remember the time one of our neighbors decided to go and get the "free fertilizer"...He said he had more weeds in his yard from that fertilizer and it took him the next 3 years to get rid of the weeds! He had GREAT grass...but those horses..you know they eat everything and it was all in the fertilizer...We have resisted getting free fertilizer from here. I am a fan of natural when at all possible but not THIS natural!

The Commute Home

Posted by Picasa

The commute home, even in my little town, is driving me to my wits end....there is not a route I drive that has not been put under construction since I started back to work ( I work at a school so not such a problem for me in the summer)....This is a bridge that is being widened and reinforced...due to be done sometime next summer....usually I take this route but now I try to avoid it but sometimes I can't...this was on my way home and I did have to wait while the earth movers were moving the earth!

Still pondering...

This is where I was standing when the sirens went off...you can see the train tower and it really doesn't look too impressive from where I was....just pondering what it is....still. As far as I can tell...there really isn't much over there.....a track. That's all I could see from where I was.

Something to ponder...

Posted by Picasa
When I was in China Town, I noticed this train building across from where I was and snapped a picture.....30 seconds later a siren went off and then it started to MOVE up! (To my knowledge, there is no river or bridge here....seems like it is in the middle of nothing)I have never seen this before... I thought maybe a train was coming....nope.....I thought maybe it would turn.....again, nope....and then as soon as it got to the middle(?)...the sirens started again and down it came.....
pretty interesting while I was standing there.....no clue what was happening though...

Chicago skyline

This little suburbanite gets into the city from time to time!! I mean...I ONLY live 30 miles from Michigan Ave(downtown Chicago) and this is a picture of the Chicago skyline when I was on my way in to China Town. The big, tall building to the right-or south- is the Sears Tower and the one you see to the left-between the lamp posts-or north- that looks very similar to the Sears Tower- is the John Hancock Building. For those of you that are familiar with the roads around Chicago, I am coming into the city on the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290).

China Town

I had to go to China Town yesterday. This is a replica of a famous structure--don't know what it is called---the young man I was with could only say it in Mandarin and that didn't help me much!!

But I took it more because the Sears Tower is just to the left of it in the background.....

THIS sign? OH.....

Not that I was counting ....but is only took 5 days to get this up again.....

Where's my umbrella?

I was at the grocery store and as I was leaving I noticed this young man "weed wacking" after the grass had been mowed. His head gear intrigued me but I couldn't get his attention (as the device in his hands is VERY loud)in order to get him to look at me....It was 93* this day and I couldn't help but think he was very hot in a long sleeve shirt, jeans, and another shirt wrapped around his head with a hat on. Maybe that does keep you cool but it didn't look like it to me!

The Blogger Schmooze award

The 'Power of Schmooze Award' is The Award for bloggers who “effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello - all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship".
Thank you Lori!!! I have passed it along!
