ABC Wednesday O is for O'Laughlin

One of the things I acquired when I married was the ability to tell people I am "IBM"....Irish by Marriage! I am American and there you have it.....anyway....It's ABC Wednesday...O is for O'Laughlin ...Americanized from Ireland from O'Loughlin to O'Laughlin at Ellis Island. The crest stands for the anchor of salvation and the O'Loughlin's come from the County Clare. I think this means they were archers when they were fighting or whatever they were doing! Please stop by Mrs Nesbitts and see what wonderful things others came up with for the letter "O"!

Jack Frost has returned

When I went out to get the newspaper, the sun was reflecting on the frost that Mother Nature left last night. I think my tulips have had more than they can handle.Hit with freezing rain yesterday and now the frost....just when I thought it was going to change!

Slow but Steady

You can tell that the buds on the trees are starting to appear. There are four of these signs throughout our town....it tells you when you enter our town....they all look alike and the daffodils are coming along slow but steady!

*%^$@!#$%^&Word Verification

I am shamelessly stealing this from Tom over at Wigger's Place. I HATE this feature. They have done something new to the system and it is extememly hard to figure out and after the 3rd try, I move on and don't leave a comment.... My suggestion is to enable your blogger moderation if you like this feature. ...Me...I am just as happy to delete the spam when I see it....and most of us know now NOT to open anything that says SEE HERE.

A walk to the train

Posted by Picasa

You can ALMOST see the buds on the tree!!! After today(it is supposed to rain and be very warm) I am sure it will be greener! This is on the way to the Palatine Train Station. I take the train (usually) when I go downtown and I love how they make it so quaint!

Redbud tree

This is my sister's redbud tree in her backyard. Her tulips were lovely and when I got back to Inverness from Manassas, it is like God has decided to grace us with some buds of our own but not to the degree of this tree yet!

A bunch of bikes

I was in Manassas, Virginia over the weekend (a suburb of Washington D.C.) and I have always found this fence of bikes intriguing. This yard is unbelievable in its varied art work through out the yard. I also found the trees to be in full bloom and you well know that not much is happening in my part of the world (Inverness) in the way of flowering anything!

A Washington Hawthorn

These are some SERIOUS thorns on this Washington Hawthorn tree. We have one in our front near our dining room window. It is not a tree you want out in the yard or where someone could unwittingly walk into or onto one of these thorns!

Weeping Cherry trees

ABC Wednesday L is for Lemur

When I was out in San Francisco, I met up with Avcr8teur and we went to the Zoo and spent all day shooting animals and getting to know each other....it was great fun! I remembered I had a few photos of lemurs from then and this is one of them.
I hope you have a chance to enjoy ABC Wednesday over at Mrs. Nesbitt's place.

A pretty picture

If you walk past the bench with bears, this is the room you enter. It is a guest room and is done in greens and pinks. Definitely has a cabana feel to it. the picture on the wall is actually a table cloth. Thought you would enjoy seeing this.
