A bunch of bikes

I was in Manassas, Virginia over the weekend (a suburb of Washington D.C.) and I have always found this fence of bikes intriguing. This yard is unbelievable in its varied art work through out the yard. I also found the trees to be in full bloom and you well know that not much is happening in my part of the world (Inverness) in the way of flowering anything!

  1. Please tell no one, but I'm a very lousy bike rider :)

That 10 means nothing, my friend!
And please believe that I really mean it when I say that if I had the chance some of my blog friends today would be drinking champagne and eating cake with me at home!
And I can pretty assure you Neva would be a name I would have on the list.

Even so I'm very happy that we can speak like this and sometimes have a nice chat.

  4. So those bikes are there year round? They make for a great earth day picture along with the signs.

  6. To all who are wondering, Yes the bikes are there all year. Although the bikes take on a life of their own. They are not only yard decorations, the bikes are decorated according to season and world events. The location is on one of the most travelled streets in Manassas. It is always a quandry as to what we see next. Notice the trees placed on the bikes to celebrate Earth Day. 04/22/2008

  7. voila une bonne idée, pour la journée de la terre, retirer toutes les voitures par des vélos. mais encore faut il que les villes est preuve des pistes cyclables. Impressionnante cette longue collection de vélo.

Here is a good idea, for the day of the earth, remove all cars by bicycles. But it still requires that cities is evidence of cycle paths. Impressive collection of this long bicycle.

  9. Creativity at its best, right out there for everyone to see. Nice photo. Did you get any others of the other pieces in the yard? Just curious.

By the way, thanks for looking at Google and trying to figure out that intersection. It's a doozie.

  12. Good choice for Earth Day! The owner can even lend a shovel to you to plant your tree!

  15. "Why don't we pull into the empty yard across the street instead of block traffic?"

  16. You should see these bikes rearranged into a Christmas tree...pretty interesting, but I also like when they do umbrellas and flowers for spring sometimes...
