I is for Indian-Native American ABC Wednesday

Posted by Picasa

My daughter is taking a class that requires her to read this book....it got sent to the house instead of to her at college so I opened it to repack and mail it....It seemed like a perfect picture for ABC Wednesday...I am guessing this book is not a happy book, though.

  5. This is the kind of book I'd love to translate. I am very much interested in American-Indian History (or should I say "native American History"? :-))

  6. Or should I say as you did "Indian Native American" ? Oh la la it's sometimes difficult to be politically correct :-)

  7. It was truely sad the way the Native Americans were treated. The children were taken from the parents and put in boarding schools to teach them to be like the white people.

  11. 'I' for the Information the book holds, a sad tale but one that should be told and learned from.

  13. Very interesting photo. Sometimes our nations did things in our past which are very disturbing and we must at the very least acknowlegde that fact and the fact that many were hurt and continue to be hurt by those actions.

  16. Reminds me of the days when I went to boarding school as a little kid. Leaving the bush and the wide open spaces for a regimented life was soul destroying. Imagine what it was like for those who come into that life from a totally different culture and language.
