There were 2 bees in my bush so I tried to get a picture of them....better if you enlarge to see them...but I think my next purchase is going to have to be a telephoto!!!!

  1. Thanks to you and others, I get a big lift out of trying to outdo myself and post things that may surprise some and make others laugh a bit and most of all make lots of people aware of things that might not know much about.

When somebody actually takes the time to write a comment about my work and what I do, that to me is the biggest gift a person can give another. It is a smile on greeting, it is a welcome handshake, and it gives me and my family some hope that the dementia farm is still down the road.

You, yourself, are an inspiration to me. I come back not only to say, "thanks for visiting and leaving a comment" but thanks for taking the time to photograph things of interest and great beauty. Without that, blogging would be about as exciting as a wart on the end of my nose.

So, thanks for stopping at my blog. And rest assured, when you do, I will always try to visit your blog, in return, and leave a comment on your blog. I might not think your photography is ready for the masterpiece award, but it got my attention.

To get close-ups you don't need a telephoto lens or a zoom lens but you really need a macro lens or a close up lens and they are not too expensive. The lens that came with your Canon Rebel XTi is a 18x55mm lens that allows you to bend over and put it close and crank the lens so it is as close as you can get. Then, you need a little glass lens that screws into the end of this lens. It is a kind of magnification lens and comes in 1X, 2X, and 4X magnification and compared to a zoom lens or a telephoto lens these are really cheap and with the left over you can buy yourself all sorts of other goodies. I use the 4X one on the picture on my blog this morning and was about an inch from the little bees. Try your local camera store or Amazon.com. Your lens size is 58MM so you would type in at Amazon.com "58 mm magnification lens for Canon" or something like that until they pop up.

  2. It turned out nice. I have tried to take pictures of bees. I always get the back end as they flew out of the frame.

  3. I have a good zoom on my camera, but to get close up shots I use the the cropping feature in the camera software. If you crop to original size it enlarges the subject but doesn't seem to effect the image quality. Give it a try :)

  4. Neva, I think it's grand that you caught your two bees being busy! And isn't Mr. Lincoln wonderful to give you that advice for your future photos?
