A wolverine

The Visitor Center had all these animal skins for kids to learn from. This is the skin of a wolverine. Michigan is known as the Wolverine State and the University of Michigan mascot is the wolverine. You can read more about wolverines here if you are interested. We were just having fun playing with the skins!
This is a black bear skin.

  1. Oh my goodness! I sure hope those skins aren't there because the animals were hunted!

I always thought that wolverines were bigger.

  2. Wow, the claws on the wolverine are fierce! The fur on the bear skin looks quite smooth and soft.

  9. Hi Neva! Back home and profiting from the Portugal’s Day holiday, I’m trying to catch up your posts.
The Michigan forest looks great and the church there is quite nice!
The bird is lovely, but this wolverine looks threatening... ;)
Thanks also for your comments at Blogtrotter, which has now landed in Santiago de Compostela, Spain!
Hope you enjoy, and have a nice rest of the week!

  11. Great idea to have skins to learn from and touch. Being a grad of U of Michigan I am partial to the wolverine. :)
