It's all in a moon

I was up and out with the dogs early this morning and looked up through the trees and to my surprise...the moon was still out.

"F" is for flowers

I am trying to follow ABC Wednesdays and today is the letter "F". I pass this restaurant everyday on the way to work @ 6:45 am and there is always a gentleman out tending to the flowers which go around the entire building. Seemed a good day to stop and take a picture but he declined his picture being taken as he was "working" and not properly dressed!

Two Inverness Dogs

This is a special photo for JoAnn who nominated me for a blog award. For her and her Ios...here are 2 of the cutest dogs I know, Clancy and Gryffindor. Hope Ios is doing well!

A garden above

This is a hot dog stand near my Mother-in-Law's house. We went to pick up some food and I couldn't resist taking a shot of this. I have no idea what this vegetable is....I thought it was a cucumber or a squash or something in that family but I have never seen either of those this shape. Maybe it is from gravity? The vine was all through the patio roof and hangs down off the trellis. It was just unbelievable to see. Thought you might like it!

The Inverness swimming hole

Normally, there is no water in this ditch except when it rains and the ditch delivers it to the wetlands beyond us. Unfortunately, all the rain we had has made this a lovely place for Clancy to swim.....He pondered it for a moment but only for a minute and then he was in! I don't think anyone would mind him cooling off...I am usually a well-behaved dog owner, but this was too much fun to not do.

An Inverness Dog, swimming!

You might think that we are at a dog water park. You would be wrong! We have had so much rain, this is the result. This has been a problem for years....I can't count back how many but this "ditch" or "culvert" or whatever you want to call it, has filled with water and boy oh boy did Clancy have fun on our walk this morning.

International flags

This is what you see when you come out of the International Terminal at OHare Airport in Chicago. I was there today and these caught my eye.

A very busy spider

I was getting gas last week and happened to look up and see this spider and its web. The spider was very busy running around its web looking for food, I guess. So I took his picture.

Our Gazebo

This is our gazebo. We have used it a lot this summer as the evenings have been very nice.....until this current heat/rain wave!

A Foggy Inverness morning

This is one of the roads I take to work. Today it was sooo foggy and gloomy looking. It's not the best quality but I think you get the idea.....it has rained here since Sat. My rain gauge is registering 5 inches....wow....that's a lot for us.

A Michigan Barn

Mostly the barns near my town of Inverness are horse barns.......but this barn is in Michigan on the way to our vacation spot and it ALWAYS looks so neat and clean and RED. I love it. Thought I would share it....especially for Dot.

The Jewel

Our local grocery store is called The Jewel. Osco is the drugstore associated with it. If I need to go to the store, I say I am going to the Jewel.....everyone understands what you mean. This was taken in between a downpour of rain..

The Chapel

Okay... Last picture of the church. This is the chapel inside the church where a smaller ceremony or Mass can take place. It is a nice place for reflection.

Stations of the cross

This is not as beautiful as this but it's what I have to work with! Last one I have of this church for awhile.

Statues in the church

These are new. This used to be where the baptismal font was located but they had a lot of trouble with the water turning green(I don't think that is supposed to happen in a catholic church!) so they got rid of it and put these up.

another view of the cross.

This is different every place you stand...I hope you can see the arm extending from it. If you would like to see how a professional would photograph this, here is where you can go to see a really good "up close" picture with a bit of history.

Still the cross

This is the side view of the cross. My experience has been you either love it or hate it. Which are you?

A Cross

There was a lot of controversy when this cross was built. It is made out of acrylic and it took quite a few years after it was built to get this. They sell small replicas of this but this was over a million dollars to build. The church was designed as all churches in our Archdiocese now demand....in the semi round.

An Inverness Church

Not only do we have the little cemetery in Inverness, we do have a church....this one was built in 1988. It is Holy Family Catholic Church. My kids did First Communion here. The inside cross is unbelieveable and I will show it to you tomorrow.

A Michigan cabin

I'm BACK!! and ready to blog. Thanks to all that visited during my week of vacation in North Michigan. I could only get the laptop up and running once so I have lots of blogs to catch up on. This is one of the cabins that is at the camp we stayed at. This cabin has a wonderful porch on the front that overlooks Walloon Lake. We were here with 21 relatives for a week....and yes, it was fun! (and it wasn't even all of the relatives either!) You can go here and see what my week at camp was like. We have been doing this for 19 years and it really is a lot of fun....and the weather was wonderful. I now know why people used to go north before air conditioning was invented!

Vacation

I am off for a week of vacation in Michigan. I will try to post if the laptop works up north! If not, I will check back in a week. Have a nice week!

Mommy robin

Earlier in the summer, we had a robin's nest over our gazebo door. We moved it so the nesting material wouldn't keep falling on us as we walked in after they left the nest. We now have another nest in the same place and baby robins again. I need Abe here to take some photos cause the digital ain't doing it for me!(click on the picture to enlarge and see it better.)

This was Eric who brought us our very delicious meal--even if it could've fed a small army....and he was very happy about letting me take his picture!

Changing the TP at IHOP

Posted by Picasa
When I was at the IHOP, this gentleman was waiting to go into the ladies restroom....to change the toilet paper rolls...I asked if I could take his picture and he just smiled that smile....I couldn't resist.
