ABC Wednesday B is for Brandt's Little Cafe
Brandt's, a gray stone building, has become a suburban landmark. It dates back more than 120 years and originally was a farmhouse in Inverness, according to our local newspaper, The Daily Herald. It is really an old, dark bar that does not use traditional menus....they write it on a chalkboard...but has the BEST burgers and ribs, in my opinion.
Please visit all the ABC participants listed in my side bar.

Looks like a delightful old building with a lot of charm. Btw do they sell salads?
ReplyDeleteYes they serve salads --and they are pretty good! --but this is not the place you go if you really want to eat healthy!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great atmosphere for a burger.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little cottage..
ReplyDeleteMust be real cosy inside..
il est très mignon ce petit café.
ReplyDeleteIt is very cute this little coffee.
Burger and ribs....what a modern menu for an old building. :o)
ReplyDeleteLove the look of that Cafe. I would like to have some ribs there. Nice choice for Letter B.
ReplyDeleteI have just eaten breakfast, but I wouldn't mind dropping in for lunch.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing prepared for lunch, so do you thnk that I can just drop in or musy I give them a call first?
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming place
ReplyDeleteSounds like a charming place. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen a child my dreaming US place was Springfield, Illinois. May be I have to swap to Inverness in my old days.
ReplyDeleteLove ribs.
It is almost as an european traditional cafe!
ReplyDeleteThese old places are usually the best

ReplyDeleteI haven't had time to return many comments recently (sorry!), but had to stop by when I saw the pic of Brandts! We do miss the burgers & ribs (but not the wait or the smoke). Glad to see it's still going strong!

Greetings form JoAnn Holland
Wow I didn't know you had any olde-worlde-tea-shoppe looking places in your neck of the woods. It certainly looks the part.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! This made me hungry and I need to keep up my strength in preparation for my forthcoming expedition!
ReplyDeletePlease will you add me to your ABC list as I have just joined today.
Thank you so much.

Looks kinda big to me! Is the whole building the cafe? I am hungry for some ribs. . . and it's not even 7:00 AM yet!
ReplyDeleteI could use a big juicy burger!
ReplyDeleteR&R--good news...it is smoke free now-as all restaurants and bars are now in Illinois.....sad news....the owner is selling it....no news on what it will become.
ReplyDeleteLooks full of character - love the vines - must be beautiful in the summer with them all green.
ReplyDeleteI am with Paulie and will take the ribs. I wanted to say I loved your Powerline shot from the previous post. You took a difficult subject and made a good go at it.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, great"B" photo...

What a quaint old place....I could go for a burger or some ribs right now.
ReplyDeleteGreat B Post!
Now that's my kind of place - sounds like it has great character. Looks more like England than Illinois!
ReplyDeleteRibs for me too please.
ReplyDeletegreat B post
My ABC is now up.

what a charming place. I would love to stop for a vup of coffee!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me so much of the many country pubs we have over here that sell bar meals.. a good pint of beer and a 'Ploughmans' lunch
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a charming place. I love the vines climbing up. Reminds me of places in Eastern Canada where I lived for a few years, but here in the West you don't see buildings like this.
ReplyDeleteThis place looks like the sort of buildings we have in the Cotswolds. The similarity is uncanny!
ReplyDeleteNew look?

ReplyDeleteIt looks like such a cozy little place to be inside right about now.
ReplyDeleteWow - it looks like it could be at Inverness, Scotland ;)
ReplyDeletebest burgers and ribs!?!? what more can we ask for from a restaurant!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lovely place.
ReplyDeleteHow cozy it looks
ReplyDeleteI like quaint restaurants, but it looks a little scary and deserted outside.
ReplyDeleteOh, such a wonderful picture and place. I'd love to go there!!
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it must be in England or Europe....it just has that look about it. Sounds like a place I'd like to visit. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that there are so many people in this cafe. I wish I could have burgers and rips .. : )
ReplyDeleteHi Neva - I know you asked this on my ABC photo comments, but I thought I'd stop by and put your answer here!
ReplyDeleteStilton's a very strong blue cheese. Very English, only certain dairies are allowed make it and its very traditional. I thought some people visiting my blog wouldn't know what Stilton is, so I put a link in my post so you can see exactly what it is. It's an acquired taste, but it's my favourite cheese!
Lovely Old Farmhouse with history.
ReplyDeleteI have a old farm table
that someone gave to me.
It was nailed to their barn
wall.
Have a Blessed Happy Fun
Creative Healthy Year!!!
It is nice to see a bit of local history.
ReplyDeleteWho knows where to download XRumer 5.0 Palladium?

Classic road house! Burgers are a little pricey, but one of the best in the area...
