People Art
This is one of the works of art the Olympics put up in Beijing. I heard on the news yesterday that China spent 40 billion-yes that was with a B- dollars on the Olympics. Wow....who can afford that price tag?
That is a ton of money. Forty billion dollars could provide health care for a lot of people in a lot of places. Wow. That is an enormous sum of money.
I do like the statue.
ALso, I don't know if you are interested or not or if you have ever seen a Pileated Woodpecker, but I posted one on My Birds Blog this morning. It is our largest woodpecker and this is the first one I have seen here in 46 years.
I like this art work. Very colourful. The games in London in 2012 will not be anywhere near that budget. The government have said the budget (not sure what it is, but its less than 40 billion) must be stuck to as there is no more money available. Part of the problem with having a Labour government that has almost bankrupt the country!
Rant over :) Thanks for visiting while I've been awol. I'm justing saying hello to some of my favourites (thats you!)
That's a lot of money. I hope they will find use for all those buildings. I read that some countries went into bankruptcy after the Olympics and others let all those nice buildings are in ruins due to lack of money for maintenance.
London will have difficulties to keep up to the Bejing "standards"! Yes, a lot of money! Could have been better used? Probably. At least it's peaceful spending.

Whoa! I didn't know it was that much money. I agree with Mr. Lincoln. And thanks for stopping by WendyB's blog, Neva.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's a cool sculpture, but the money . . . eep!
