Baha'i Temple

 

This is the Baha'i Temple In Wilmette, Illinois. My Russian visitors, who are Russian Orthodox, were extremely interested in this as it has a similar design to buildings they see in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Somehow, one of the girls fell in.....it was a bit chilly for swimming today! They are definitely going to have a lot of stories to tell when they get home!

Sky Watch Graceful and Serene

This is my daughter practicing her yoga/ballet (she did take dance lessons for 20 years and still does!). I thought it was a lovely, serene picture to use today for sky watch.
I apologize for not visiting or posting regularly. My BIL had open heart surgery and we have been a little busy. I will return this weekend and catch up with all of you. thanks for stopping by!

ABC WEdnesday I is for Illinois

I bet you all thought I would do Inverness...but Inverness is in Illinois. The 21st to be admitted into the Union in 1818. Silk worms

I want to thank my nephew(in law) for sharing some of his photos from Vietnam where he and my niece just returned from their honeymoon. This photo of his caught my eye. I am not sure what I thought silk worms would look like but I don't think it was this.

Raindrops

 
Can you see the raindrops on the table? It is supposed to rain here for a few days thanks to Hanna and Ike....and we need the rain so I am not complaining but I hate to risk my camera getting wet taking shots!

ABC Wednesday H is for Hearts

I am not a big collector of items but I have kept these hearts to hold odds and ends in. Some hold jewlery(which is what came in them) and others hold hair do dads. Stop over at Mrs. Nesbitt's place, the host of ABC Wednesday (thanks Denise!)

People Art

This is one of the works of art the Olympics put up in Beijing. I heard on the news yesterday that China spent 40 billion-yes that was with a B- dollars on the Olympics. Wow....who can afford that price tag?

Where are all the people?

What struck me about this photo, is the lack of people. In the 4 years that my son has lived there, all I have heard about is how many people are everywhere! Not so much in this photo....I would say that is unusual just on any given day nevermind that is was the OLYMPICS!!

This is the basketball arena. My son said it was awesome at night but was unable to get a picture at night. Not sure why, perhaps from all the entertaining he was doing!?

Here are the events that my son attended at the Olympics.
He went to 5 events:
1) woman's gymnastics (1st heat china and romania)
2) woman's basketball (NZ v Spain, Czech v Mali)
3) Men's quarterfinal soccer (italy v belgium)
4) Women's quarterfinal beach volleyball (USA v China, Australia v Brazil)
5) Men's Gold medal waterpolo (USA v Hungary)
This is the gymnastics event....he said he had nosebleed seats but was not complaining since his tickets were free!

ABC Wednesday G is for GIRLS

This is the entertainment between volleyball matches. I do not recall that they showed these girls on TV during the Olympics. Guess you had to be there to catch all the little nuances!

Olympic Beach volleyball

I am not sure what I thought when I saw the beach volleyball field on TV during the Olympics, but I don't think it was that they had brought a beach in to an arena....guess that makes perfect sense!

A Plier

 
Can you imagine this hitting you while traveling the interstate at 60 miles an hour and a pair of pliers falls off the vehicle in front of you and embeds itself in your bumper? Thank heavens it was not in the windsheild!
