Baha'i Temple
Today you find me back on the North Shore of Chicago in lovely Wilmette, Illinois. Today is known as Naw-Ruz, the Baha'in New Year. (The Baha’i New Year’s Day is astronomically fixed to begin the year on the spring equinox. Naw-Rúz is one of the nine holy days of the year when work is suspended. You can follow the link if you want to know more!) My daughter has a friend who invited us to share this day at the Temple...so we did. This is a picture as we walked to the Temple and I apologize...I really needed my tripod but didn't have it....so I went with the blurry effect! (But it seemed appropriate with the moon over the temple!)

We did have a large moon last night. Your photo of the moon is nice and how it is located is special.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice holiday weekend.

Lovely photo. The blur makes for a good effect!
ReplyDeleteNice photo and interesting with the moon above; as if it was just about to sit on the top of the temple.:-)
ReplyDeleteNice shot! So you have a tripod you don't use. Great! Another good reason for me not buying one and continuing to catch blurred night pics... ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a happy Easter and a great weekend!

I did not realise that was the moon.. I'm glad I read the post. I have not yet tried to capture any night shots.. apart from the moon. I need to get some practice in on buildings and lighting.

When I first arrived in Montpellier, I made friends with a couple (married people) of Iranian doctors who were Baha'i. They were extremely nice people.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, this is one of the very first structures I ever saw in the greater Chicago area. In college, I drove from Colorado to Chicago to see a friend (her parents lived in the suburbs), and I really wanted to see the Lake, so we went to this area where the Temple is located.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are meeting some blogger friends, too, in your neck of the woods.
Isn't it beautiful. I will be sad to move away from Wilmette. Great shot, have a happy week.
ReplyDeleteI've seen it in perosn. It's absolutely amazing. What an impressive structure.
