this is what it looked like out my front door this morning.....yep, we had more snow....I know it is winter and we live in the north...but I am ready for some sun!
Not only does my friend collect Santa's and bears, she is also a "seasonal decorator"! She decorates her house for the season or holiday that is next. This is her stove around Valentine's Day. She has quite a talent for this and she has some lovely pieces I have admired (ok...salivated over would be a better word!)over the years. I LOVE her stove as well!
This is my Friend's Fireplace. Please go over to Mrs. Nesbitt's place for a whole list of ABC Participants or click on my side bar....most of them are current!
My first post with my new camera....It is snowing here and it is supposed to snow all night. The Village of Inverness is officially out of road salt....I can hardly wait to see what the roads look like in the morning.

This is a concept car.... it's a new version of the Riveria which has been around for years and years---it is made by Buick. I think it has changed the most since its introduction into the car world back in 1963 as a personal luxury car. I thought this was a very pretty car but I am not sure about the door!
I do get out of Inverness! We went to the Auto Show over the weekend which was held at McCormick Place....a huge convention center near Lake Michigan. This is the entrance into the show. I was amazed at the variety of cars and concept(a prototype car?) cars they had. For a girl who only wants to put a key in and turn it on so it will go, this was quite the exhibit. Who knew there were so many cars in the world? Apparently everyone but me!
It's ABC Wednesday and I had a hard time with "E"! I found this in my archive. It is in the little cemetery in our subdivision. Make sure you visit all the ABC Wed participants listed over at MrsNesbittsplace!
I seem to be stuck on neighbor's doors. This is another neighbors door(thanks!). I have always found it interesting as to what kind of doors people pick when they are building their house...as mentioned before...we went for functional not beautiful...I imagine these are more functional than I would think!!
This sign is in the front of my subdivision. It just means that there is no other way out....so you can't "cut through" this neighborhood to get to another one. The other sign underneath it (Neighborhood watch community)hopefully gives robbers a pause that someone in the neighborhood will be watching them should they chose to break in. Although in 23 years of living here, we have only had kids do stupid things to houses and to the sigins in the front.
I took this on the way home from work the other day.....this is in the community just east of me...Palatine. I am always amazed when I catch the snow flakes with my little point and shooter. This is on the out skirt of town...no where near this.
Northern Illinois University is the closest State University to Inverness. Not more than an hour or so away. My neighbor's son attends this school (he is fine, thanks). I can't imagine the horror of the parents who received phone calls yesterday that their child had been killed by a crazed shooter on their student's university campus while attending class. My sorrow knows no bounds. Please keep these families in your prayers.
This is a "Dunkin' Donuts" near me. I like their coffee. You have to really want coffee or donuts to attempt this parking lot. The store is hemmed in by LOTS of snow plowing. Starbucks is just to the left in this picture but I prefer anything besides Starbucks which I find oily and rancid and bitter....but then, this is only my opinion!
This is my dentist's office. It used to be a bank but now it is an office and a realtor's office. Make sure you try and visit all the ABC participants listed on my side bar and over at Mrsnesbitt's place. Enjoy!!
This is an antique lightning rod. The ball in the middle would explode if struck by lighting. It is also a weather vane....two for the price of one! This is obviously just used as decoration here but I will show you some on a roof soon!
If you stand on the rosewood inlay and look up, this is what you see. This is a beautiful chandelier as well as the detail in the keyhole in the ceiling. One of the nice things about this is the chandelier lowers for cleaning purposes! neat.
This is overlooking a protected area. I thought the swing looked lovely if not a bit lonely. I have a colleague who passed away suddenly and today is his funeral. This looked like something he would have enjoyed appreciating..the serenity, the beauty, the solitude. May he RIP.
It's not that I don't like snow, but I am getting tired of seeing things in black and white.....mostly white! This was yesterday between the 6-8 inches we got....and I did not take this in Black and white!
This is back at the outdoor mall I did for "A". I like this store as it caters to the "non teeny bopper". Please visit all the participants listed in my side bar or over at MrsNesbitt's place!
We are in a period of snow and more snow. This is what it looked like on the way to work this morning and we are expecting 6 to 12 more inches of snow today. FUN!
I can't say exactly how many, but in the winter, many residents need to mark their driveway in order to be able to snow plow or snow blow the snow off. The little red markers sticking up is what many of us use.
There are many stunning features to my friend and neighbor's house. She is quite happy to have me share(thanks!). This is part of the entry way floor for this house. It was designed by OshKosh floors. It is really quite beautiful....
There are only 6.5 square miles of our town. Only about 6700 people, according to the last census. Many areas look like this after the 6 or so inches of snow we got. This happens to look out over a nature preserve of some sort....not sure the exact nature as I did not walk it~
Our city is known for being an independent community with beautiful homes on acre minimums. There is no industry in our town and our most recognized landmark is the Village Hall.
