A moment of silence
Northern Illinois University is the closest State University to Inverness. Not more than an hour or so away. My neighbor's son attends this school (he is fine, thanks).
I can't imagine the horror of the parents who received phone calls yesterday that their child had been killed by a crazed shooter on their student's university campus while attending class. My sorrow knows no bounds. Please keep these families in your prayers.

I learned about that very early. I'm so sorry. What's going on there? I have heard that it was the fourth or the fifth "attack" in a university in a week? Is that possible? What a crazy world. I have taught in two American universities. I think of my students who were so nice, so hard-working and so well-behaved compared to many French kids.
ReplyDeleteYour neighbor must be traumatized, despite the fact that her child has been spared from the horror visited upon other families. I just posted a memorial on my blog. Breaks my heart!
ReplyDeleteYes Neva,
ReplyDeleteI hearded about it on the news I feel so sorry for what happened! I will think of the parents in my prayers.
Come and see my DUTCH skywatch,
and listen to my favorite music while watching...
Greetings JoAnn
Enjoy your weekend:)
la bêtise humaine ne s'arrêtera jamais, je viens d'apprendre cela aux actualités. bonjour tristesse ;o(
ReplyDeletethe human silly thing will never stop, I has just learned that with the current events, hello sadness ;O(
Such an awful story - why does this keep happening? I just read the guy had stopped his medication! Now 5 families traumatised, plus the killer's family. And all those young lives lost/wasted. am so sorry.
ReplyDeleteWe will. The worlds thoughts are with Illinois.
ReplyDeleteWe certainly will. Thank God nothing happened with anyone you knew.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw it in CNN late at night, I thought about you and your family.
Since blogging I seem to be more aware of the suffering these crimes cause... with the internet friends from many miles away are so much nearer and their pain is nearer to... my thoughts will be with these and many other parents across the world right now.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest sympathy. This was so horrible to see and watch on TV!

ReplyDeleteHi Neva, I’m back after a short break, and sorry to see that such incidents continue to happen...
ReplyDeleteSomething should be done, but what?
Missed your comments on my CowParade at Blogtrotter. Now, I'm posting on Sofia, Bulgaria...
Have a great weekend!
We were monitoring this awful tragey right through all the editions of the newspaper I work for.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers for all those touched by it.
Thank God your son is all right. I was really worried.
Yes, heard this on the news. How awful for it to be in your local area....so shocking for everyone involved, traumatic for so many people. When will all this senseless violence end?
ReplyDeleteIt is really sad that almost every day something like this is happening in this country.
ReplyDeleteIt's horrible. I hate to see my grandson start school this year with all the shootings going on.
ReplyDeleteIts sad when our kids aren't safe at school. That should be the safest place they spend time at.
