A sad gingerbread house

We were at a holiday brunch today and saw this sweet little gingerbread house. I have never had the patience to make one so I always appreciate the effort put into one. This one is missing a window frame and some gumdrops on the roof. The sign next to it-which was gone when I went to get a picture-said CLEARLY "Display only Do not eat"....makes me think they sprayed something on it.....obviously didn't stop someone(s) from having a snack!

  1. I really came looking (a couple days late) to peruse bridge pix. But the gingerbread house really caught my eye. It took a lot of care to make it.

  3. Aww, it's almost a one-eyed house! A few years ago, I made the big mistake to try a sugar-cube-house that I had briefly seen on Martha Steward. I thought it would be a fun thing to do with my nephews. It was. Lots of fun. It's been four years now and it seems to have turned into a holiday tradition. Which is sweet but I must say I am happy to see this one. Give's me some ideas of candy decoration.

  4. Yupp, me too! Never had the patience to actually make one, but they do look so festive....but a snack? Imagine all the germs that must be on it from traffic, sneezes and who knows what.

  6. As far as I remember gingerbread houses are better to be watched than to be eaten.
For gingerbread the best was in the "Foire du Trone" around the "place de la Nation" in Paris some decades ago.

  7. Neva that house really looks cute, but how does a gingerbread house taste?

  8. What a "dolt", to break off pieces of that Gingerbread House.

Hmmm... Maybe... Later... The "dolt" had a big tummy ache. For not heeding the sign. Heh, heh, heh...

  12. It would be hard not to snitch a piece of candy off that house.

  13. I never had a chance to build a gingerbread house. It looks like fun, but I think I would eat most of the decorations. What do people do with a gingerbread house after the holidays??? I asked someone the other day and he told me they just destroy it which seems like a waste to me.

  14. One who made that gingerbread really had to put lots an effort into it. It is as wonderful as the photo.

  15. Maybe the baker got tired. :-)

Sounds like me. I have little patience for detail oriented stuff, unless it's something I enjoy doing, of course.
