3 Mighty Inverness Oaks

As you come around the corner before you get to my house...you see these lovely oak trees. They hold their leaves all winter...I found that strange for the longest time... I am used to them now!

  6. We learned on a nature walk some time ago that oak leaves don't develop the "joint" at the base of the leaf, thus they stay on the tree unless battered off by wind.

  7. They are beautiful.

How interesting that they keep their leaves all winter. "Where" do the new buds for new leaves for next spring, form, I wonder?

  10. The curved road really makes this photo interesting. Great color on that last tree especially. I didn't realize that some oaks don't "shed"!
