Fall on the Kanawha River

My mom lives in West Virginia and she was out taking some pictures and she sent some to me. I loved this picture with its fall colors and thought I would share. This is the Kanawha River near Charleston, W.Va. The word "Kanawha" means "place of white stone" from the Native American Indians in that area due to salt being found in the area. The Adena Indians were supposedly settled in this area around 1,000 B.C. You can go here if you want to learn more.

  1. Beautiful red leaves. It is definitely fall in W.VA. What is that on the other side of the river? Glad to see your mom enjoys photography too.

  2. Lovely WV photo. Bitter-sweet, since all our bright colors are now gone.

  3. Well done to mum, I like the red leaves.
I followed both links, I found the link about the indians very good, those mounds are certainly a thing to read about, and the size of some of the skeletons just leads add to the whole mystery
