the Bird's Nest
Air Quality is not so good in Beijing. My son usually wears a mask to protect his lungs but the weeks of the Olympics were the nicest weather...even with the rain...that he has seen in the 4 years he has been there. Of course, all the factories were shut down for amonth but , hey, guess it worked! This happened to be a rainy day and then smoggy a bit when he snapped this one.

voilà le stade où Usain Bolt nous a fait rêver.
ReplyDeleteThis is the stage where Usain Bolt has made us dream.
I love the design, they really went for different with it.
ReplyDeleteBirdnest caught my eye, Your son is tall, I had a roommate once 6'8, and a friend from Sweden, and one in San Antonio, too. They rise above me well over a foot. So your son wears a mask outside everyday? Wow, I hope we never get that bad on the rest of the earth, but air travels.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that your son has had the opportunity to live in another country. The BIrd Nest was one of my favorite sites (from my TV of course.) Look forward to more!
ReplyDeleteHe certainly is a tall "boy" - bet the Chinese need ladders to talk to him!!! Great experience though. i have a friend teaching in Bejing but the air quality was so bad last winter and she was so sick she almost had to come home!!!
ReplyDeleteIt seems once the games got under way that the Chinese were very lucky with the air quality! This stadium is just brilliant. A real example of good design. It looked amazing lit up at night.
ReplyDeleteI had momentarily forgotten that your son is in China so when I saw the photo on your portal, I thought "bird's nest." What a thrill for him. Is he teaching there? Or...??
