Tulips and Crocus

My crocus are in the front of this photo and my tulips were just starting to come up. I am hoping this was like a "blanket" and not a funeral for them!

A view from the front door

While I will admit that it was warm enough to melt most of the snow today....this is what it looked like out my front door yesterday.....

Crocus

A sure sign of Spring....my only crocus and it is starting to bloom. It is also the only purple I could find for today. Visit Michelle over at The Rocky Mountain Retreat to find out about the color purple today.

ABC Wednesday I is for Interesting

It is ABC Wednessday again. Thanks to Denise for hosting our 4th round. These looked like the letter "i" to me. It is a very INTERESTING display at one of the hotels (Mandalay Bay) in Las Vegas...so not quite the end yet!

The End

The End of the Strip, actually! Why not end with the swankiest hotel, Mandalay Bay?(or least in MY opinion it is pretty darn swanky). You can see the Sphinix as well. I will encourage anyone to go and visit Las Vegas. I do not gamble(unless the you count the 1 dollar when I tried video poker!) but there is SO much to do in Vegas besides gamble. Each and every hotel has something unique about it. The Winn has beautiful glass art work-and it is GORGEOUS-The Flamingo has flamingoes!! Paris has all things Parisian-sure smells nice! The Venetian is all Italian, the Palazza is pretty swanky as well with a famous nightclub where Hollywooders hangs out called the TAOU. You see what I mean. You can take a day trip to see the famous Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. For a vacation spot pretty neat destination. I would remind you that is it in the desert and it does get pretty darn hot in the summer...or so I have been told! so...maybe more a winter spot! Have a good day!

The Luxor

Maybe you will be impressed with the Luxor...but I was not.....very dark inside and not as nice as most of the other hotels we walked through....even the Excaliber was cheery...it IS a castle after all! Only a few more shots of Las Vegas.....it really is a great place to take pictures.

Excaliber

This is close to the end of the strip at Las Vegas. All of these hotels, Bellagio, Bally's, Luxor, Ceasar's Palace, Flamingo, Venetian, Palazzo, Winn, Trump, Flamingo, Mandelay Bay, MGM, Planet Hollywood are only some of the hotels on the strip. Here are some fun facts about Las Vegas....there are 127,240 hotel rooms, 3740 conventions come here each year, average number of weddings PER DAY, 315. If you want to know more fun facts, go here.

ABC Wednesday H is for Hotel

It is ABC Wednesday hosted by Denise. This is the Flamingo hotel's entrance from the garden which is lovely. Very 1940's in my mind. Hope you have a minute to stop and visit ABC around the world.

The Bellagio

They have quite a nice walkway over the very busy road. This corner has Caesar's Placae, The Flamingo, Bally's, Paris and some other smaller hotels. If you look waaayy down the street past Bellagio's, you will see the newly opened (in the past year) Playboy Club. I was tempted to walk there but objects in the distance...really are that far!!! So I settled for a snapshot. Just a few more photos to share from Las Vegas.

3 Muses

I caught the 3 Muses as I was on my way up the escalator. Who knew they were showing up at the Venetian for a performance? Later they stepped into the waterfall behind them and did an intricate hand dance with water flowing from their fingertips but I had already passed them and could not get a good shot of them.Sorry for the poor quality of this photo.

The Venetian Hotel

You really do feel as if you are in Veince when you are at the Venetian. They have the gondola boats with the boatman serenading you.....opera singers walking through the streets where the stores are....really....who needs to gamble in Las Vegas when you can be exposed to so much culture?

Flamingos at the Flamingo Hotel

Yes, there really are Flamingos at the Flamingo Hotel and here they are. There was a "keeper' cleaning the area they were in and they were getting pretty agitated...hence the flapping of their wings. They are not as pink as I thought they should be, though.

Viva Las Vegas!

I apologize for not posting for the past few days- but we took a short trip to Las Vegas, Nevada and I really thought I would have time to blog....apparently I was only fooling myself! We stayed at the Flamingo Hotel....one of the older hotels on the strip. If you are interested in some history, go here.
